Tomasz Jedrowski was born in West Germany to Polish parents. He studied law at the University of Cambridge and the Université de Paris, and lives in France. His fiction is written in English and combines literary, historical, political, and LGBTQ+ themes. His debut novel, Swimming in the Dark, was published in 2020 and became an internationally translated, prize-nominated work.
