Terry Hayes is an Australian screenwriter, film producer, journalist, and novelist. Born in Sussex, England, he moved to Australia as a child and worked as a journalist and North American correspondent for The Sydney Morning Herald before becoming a radio producer and screenwriter. With George Miller, he co-wrote Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, and he subsequently wrote or co-wrote screenplays including Dead Calm, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, Payback, From Hell, and Vertical Limit, as well as television films and miniseries. His published fiction includes I Am Pilgrim and The Year of the Locust. He also co-authored Argylle with Tammy Cohen under the pseudonym Elly Conway.
