Stephenie Meyer is an American novelist and film producer best known for writing the Twilight Saga, a globally successful young-adult vampire-romance series.
Her birth name is Stephenie Morgan. She was born on December 24, 1973, in Hartford, Connecticut, and grew up in Arizona.
A vivid dream on June 2, 2003, inspired Meyer to begin writing Twilight. She finished the manuscript in about three months, submitted it with her sister’s encouragement, and secured publication with Little, Brown.

Meyer says the immediate inspiration was a dream about two people talking in a meadow. She also drew on classic literature, including Jane Austen and Charlotte Brontë; Edward’s name was influenced by characters created by those authors.
