Samanta Schweblin is an Argentine writer born in Buenos Aires in 1978. She writes in Spanish and lives and works in Berlin.

She studied film in Buenos Aires, learning screenwriting and sitcom writing. Before devoting herself fully to literature, she founded a web-design agency to support her artistic independence.
She has cited Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, Silvina Ocampo, Raymond Carver, John Cheever, Flannery O’Connor, and Lucia Berlin as influences. Her artistic grandfather, Alfredo de Vincenzo, also helped shape her vocation.

Her honors include the 2022 National Book Award for Translated Literature and the 2017 Shirley Jackson Award for Novella. She has also received major International Booker recognition, including a 2017 shortlist place.
