Philip George Zimbardo (1933–2024) was an American social psychologist and Stanford University professor emeritus. His work examined social influence, shyness, imprisonment, deindividuation, the psychology of evil, time perspective, heroism, and teaching. He co-created the Discovering Psychology educational series, served as president of the American Psychological Association, and founded the Heroic Imagination Project.
