Michael Kandel (born 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American science-fiction author, translator, and editor. He earned a doctorate in Slavic studies from Indiana University and worked as an editor at Harcourt and the Modern Language Association. He is particularly known for his inventive English translations of Stanisław Lem and other Polish writers. His own fiction combines science fiction and fantasy with surrealism, satire, and dark humor.
