Max Porter is an English writer born in High Wycombe in 1981. He studied art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art and worked as a bookseller before becoming an editor at Granta Books and Portobello Books. His debut, Grief Is the Thing with Feathers, won the International Dylan Thomas Prize and the Sunday Times/Peter, Fraser + Dunlop Young Writer of the Year Award. His subsequent books include Lanny, The Death of Francis Bacon, and Shy. He lives in Bath with his family.
