The central short-story collection and the most widely recognized entry point to Borges's fiction.

Author guide
Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986) was an Argentine author whose fiction, poetry, essays, and criticism transformed twentieth-century literature. His work repeatedly explores infinity, language, identity, time, memory, books, and labyrinths through densely allusive, often philosophical forms. He also worked as a translator, editor, lecturer, and librarian, and wrote in collaboration with other authors, notably Adolfo Bioy Casares, Margarita Guerrero, and María Esther Vázquez.
