Eckhart Tolle is a German-born spiritual teacher and bestselling author whose teachings emphasize Presence, present-moment awareness, and freedom from identification with the ego.
He studied at the University of London and later worked as a researcher and supervisor at the University of Cambridge. He was born in Germany and lived there until age 13.
At age 29, Tolle experienced what he describes as a profound inner transformation after years of depression and anxious, negative thinking. He says the experience brought a deep sense of peace and a new awareness beyond his usual thought-based identity.
