David Foster Wallace was an American writer of fiction, nonfiction, and criticism. He studied English and philosophy at Amherst College, earned an MFA from the University of Arizona, taught literature and writing at Emerson College, Illinois State University, and Pomona College, and became known for work that explored consciousness, irony, addiction, entertainment, and moral attention.
