Walter Trier Books in Order

Walter Trier was born in Prague and built his early career in Berlin as a press artist, caricaturist, illustrator, and designer for books, magazines, stage productions, film, and advertising. He became internationally known for illustrating Erich Kästner's children's books and for his recurring covers for Lilliput. After persecution under National Socialism, Trier emigrated to London in 1936, where he produced anti-Nazi graphic work and humorous children's books, and later moved to Canada. His authored and co-authored books combine visual satire, playful typography, picture-book storytelling, poetry, and interactive split-page formats.
