She earned a master's degree in communication and performance studies from the University of North Carolina and has worked in live theater, video game production, and K–12 education. Her writing has appeared in anthologies and on Tor.com, and she was a featured expert, co-writer, and consulting producer for the Syfy documentary series Looking for Leia.
