Søren Aabye Kierkegaard (1813–1855) was a Danish philosopher, theologian, religious writer, and literary author. Writing through both his own name and numerous pseudonyms, he explored anxiety, despair, faith, ethics, subjectivity, individuality, love, and the demands of Christian existence. His major works combine philosophical argument, fiction, irony, biblical reflection, devotional discourse, and literary experimentation.
