Ronald S. Gottesman (1933–2010) was an American literary and film scholar, editor, and bibliographer. He taught at several universities, including the University of Southern California, where he directed the Center for the Humanities. His books and edited volumes address American literature, textual editing, film studies, Orson Welles, Citizen Kane, King Kong, Upton Sinclair, Henry Miller, Kafka, and violence in American life. He also served as editor-in-chief of Violence in America: An Encyclopedia and helped compile The Norton Anthology of American Literature.
