He worked extensively in Asia, including assignments in South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and North Korea, before publishing travel writing and fiction. His books include a travel narrative about Shetland, crime novels set in South Korea and Bangkok, a Glasgow-set detective novel, and the romance novel Still Blue.
