Robert Ludlum (1927–2001) was an American novelist, actor, and theatrical producer. His fiction centers on espionage, political conspiracy, covert operations, and international intrigue. He wrote under his own name and the pseudonyms Jonathan Ryder and Michael Shepherd, and collaborated with Gayle Lynds and Philip Shelby on early Covert-One novels. Several novels based on his manuscripts and story material were published posthumously under his name.
