Rashid Ismail Khalidi is a Palestinian-American historian and Edward Said Professor Emeritus of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University. His scholarship focuses on modern Arab history, Palestinian identity and nationalism, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and American policy in the Middle East. He has also taught at the American University of Beirut and the University of Chicago, edited the Journal of Palestine Studies, and advised the Palestinian delegation during the Madrid and Washington peace negotiations.
