Natsume Sōseki Books in Order

Natsume Sōseki (1867–1916), born Natsume Kinnosuke, was a Japanese novelist, essayist, literary scholar, literary critic, and poet. After studying English literature and teaching at the University of Tokyo, he became a professional writer for the Asahi Shimbun. His work combines satire, psychological realism, formal experimentation, and sustained examination of individualism, isolation, modernization, and the conflict between social obligation and personal freedom.
