Namina Forna is a Sierra Leonean American young adult novelist and screenwriter. Originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa, she moved to the United States at age nine and has continued traveling between the United States and Sierra Leone. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling fantasy trilogy The Gilded Ones. Her books have been translated into more than 25 languages, nominated for several awards, and optioned for film and television. She also speaks publicly about feminism, storytelling, and challenging dominant narratives.
