Marjane Satrapi Books in Order
Marjane Satrapi (1969–2026) was an Iranian-born French graphic novelist, memoirist, children's-book author, filmmaker, and visual artist. Born in Rasht and raised in Tehran, she experienced the Iranian Revolution and Iran–Iraq War, lived in Vienna as a teenager, returned to Iran, studied visual communication, and moved to France in 1994. Her four-volume graphic memoir Persepolis (2000–2003) established her international reputation. She subsequently published Broderies, Poulet aux prunes, children's books, and the collective graphic nonfiction work Femme, vie, liberté, which she coordinated and contributed to. She co-wrote and co-directed the animated film Persepolis and directed several live-action films. She died in 2026.
