Malcolm Cowley was an American poet, literary critic, editor, memoirist, and literary historian. A chronicler of the Lost Generation, he worked at The New Republic and later as an editorial adviser at Viking Press, where he helped revive the reputations of William Faulkner and other American writers. His books combine literary history, cultural criticism, memoir, poetry, and correspondence.
