Laura Esquivel Books in Order
Laura Esquivel (born 30 September 1950 in Mexico City) is a Mexican writer whose fiction and nonfiction join intimate life, Mexican cultural traditions, cooking, history, and emotional themes. She gained international recognition with Como agua para chocolate (Like Water for Chocolate), and later wrote the multimedia novel La ley del amor, the culinary essay and story collection Íntimas suculencias, the children's fable Estrellita marinera, the nonfiction book El libro de las emociones, and novels including Tan veloz como el deseo, Malinche, A Lupita le gustaba planchar, El diario de Tita, and Mi negro pasado. Her later books include the creative-writing essay Escribiendo la nueva historia and the memoir Lo que yo vi.
