John Peter Berger (1926–2017) was an English writer, art critic, novelist, essayist, poet, playwright, screenwriter, and artist. His work ranged across fiction, visual criticism, photography, poetry, theater, and political writing. He won the 1972 Booker Prize for G. and is widely known for Ways of Seeing. He frequently collaborated with photographers, artists, and writers, especially Jean Mohr.
