Hilary Mantel Books in Order

Hilary Mantel (1952–2022) was a British writer whose work ranged from psychologically acute contemporary fiction and historical novels to memoir, short stories, essays, and literary criticism. Her Wolf Hall trilogy—Wolf Hall, Bring Up the Bodies, and The Mirror & the Light—reimagines the rise and fall of Thomas Cromwell and won the Booker Prize for its first two volumes. She also wrote novels including A Place of Greater Safety, Beyond Black, Fludd, and Eight Months on Ghazzah Street; the memoir Giving Up the Ghost; the story collections Learning to Talk and The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher; and several collections of nonfiction writing.
