Gillian Beer Books in Order

Dame Gillian Beer (born 1935) is a British literary critic and academic who was King Edward VII Professor of English Literature at the University of Cambridge and president of Clare Hall. A Fellow of the British Academy, she is best known for influential studies of Victorian fiction, Darwinian thought, literature and science, George Eliot, Virginia Woolf, and Lewis Carroll. Her major books include Darwin's Plots, Arguing with the Past, Open Fields, Virginia Woolf: The Common Ground, Alice in Space, and the memoir Stations Without Signs.
