Frank McCourt (1930–2009) was an Irish-American writer and teacher. Born in Brooklyn to Irish immigrant parents, he grew up in Limerick, Ireland, returned to the United States as a young man, and taught English in New York City public high schools for three decades. His memoir Angela's Ashes won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography, and he later published 'Tis and Teacher Man, along with plays and a children's book.
