Eliezer Yudkowsky is an American artificial intelligence researcher, decision theorist, and writer. He founded the Machine Intelligence Research Institute and LessWrong, and is known for developing and popularizing ideas including friendly artificial intelligence, coherent extrapolated volition, and timeless decision theory. His writing includes the Rationality: From AI to Zombies essay series, the fanfiction novel Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, the nonfiction book Inadequate Equilibria, and co-authored work on AI risk and decision theory.
