David Grene Books in Order
David Grene (1913–2002) was an Irish-American classicist who taught at the University of Chicago from 1937 until his death and helped found its Committee on Social Thought. His major original books examine classical political thought, dramatic form, and Shakespearean stage poetry. He also co-edited The Complete Greek Tragedies with Richmond Lattimore, a landmark multivolume series of English translations. His posthumous memoir Of Farming and Classics recounts his life in Ireland and the United States, his academic career, and his parallel life as a farmer.
