David Bromwich is an American literary critic and scholar whose work spans Romanticism, modern poetry, eighteenth-century political thought, liberal education, and democratic culture. He is Sterling Professor of English at Yale University and the author of studies of William Hazlitt, William Wordsworth, Edmund Burke, poetry, higher education, and contemporary American politics. He has also edited major anthologies and critical editions of Romantic and political writing.
