Christopher Hitchens (1949–2011) was a British-American author, journalist, essayist, literary critic, and public intellectual. His work ranged across political reportage, history, biography, literary criticism, memoir, polemic, and collections of journalism and essays. He wrote influential books on Cyprus, the Anglo-American relationship, Bill Clinton, Henry Kissinger, George Orwell, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Iraq, and religion, and became one of the most prominent critics of organized religion in the English-speaking world. He also collaborated on books with Peter Kellner, Ed Kashi, Adam Bartos, Douglas Wilson, Tony Blair, and other writers.
