Chinua Achebe (1930–2013) was a Nigerian writer, critic, editor, and teacher best known for Things Fall Apart. His fiction, poetry, essays, political writing, children's books, and memoir examine colonialism, Igbo society, Nigerian politics, war, language, and cultural identity. He also served as a founding editor of Heinemann's African Writers Series and helped establish influential literary journals and publishing initiatives.
