Anne Inez McCaffrey was an American-born author who lived and worked in Ireland. She was the first woman to win a Hugo Award for fiction and the first woman to win a Nebula Award. Her major bodies of work include Dragonriders of Pern, the Talents, Crystal Singer, Doona, Petaybee, Acorna, Freedom, and Brain & Brawn Ship books. She also wrote romances, children's fiction, short-story collections, nonfiction, cookbooks, and collaborative novels.
