Andre Aciman is an Egyptian-born Italian-American writer and professor of comparative literature. Raised in Alexandria and Rome before moving to New York, he writes novels, memoirs, essays, and short fiction marked by lyrical prose and sustained attention to desire, memory, exile, identity, and the emotional life of place. He teaches at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and is a major scholar of Marcel Proust.
