Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Books in Order

Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn (1918–2008) was a Russian writer, historian, and political thinker. A Soviet political prisoner from 1945 to 1953, he drew on camp and exile experiences in works including One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, The First Circle, Cancer Ward, and The Gulag Archipelago. His historical novel-cycle The Red Wheel examined the Russian Revolution. Exiled in 1974, he continued writing memoirs, fiction, poetry, drama, and political essays in the West before returning to Russia in 1994. He received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1970.
